From October 17 through November 7, Cynthia Johnston Turner will be in Costa Rica. The government has invited her to teach a week-long conducting symposium to the SiNEM conductors, guest conduct the National Band of San Jose and the Sinfonia School, and to undertake a qualitative study of the SiNEM program. Cynthia will be visiting 7 new SiNEM schools to work with orchestras and teachers. While in Costa Rica, she will also begin planning the fourth biennial service and performing tour scheduled for January 2012 with the Wind Ensemble.
OUR MISSION
The CU Wind Symphony and associated student organization CU Winds unite student musicians dedicated to the study and performance of emerging and traditional wind repertoire. We explore music making as a vehicle for cross-cultural exchange and collaboration, and in doing so support Cornell's core values of public engagement and global awareness.
